Instagram account verification was never easy. Before now, its very difficult for one to verify a personal account rather, it was exclusively available and easy for celebrities, public figure, global brands or entities but now, it is open to everyone.
Being verified means your account has been confirmed as authentic by Instagram. This helps people avoid imposters and easily find the brands or public figures they want to follow. Verified accounts have a little blue check mark beside their name.
Applying only takes few moments
- Open the Instagram app and navigate to Settings
- Scroll down and tap Request Verification
- Type in your account name, full name, and a photo of your ID if you’re a person, or a legal or business ID (upload your ID card i.e your voter’s card, National ID card International passport, driver’s license or any government issued ID card) if you have an Instagram for Business account

After you have submitted your request, the company will then review your application, you’ll be notified whether your request is approved or denied. Their response might not come quickly, so relax until they finish reviewing your application because there’s not a specified timeline for how long the process takes.
There are other changes which instagram had applied to its app such as new “About” pages which feature more detailed information about an account, including how long it’s been on the service, its country location, any username changes, and any ads that the account run. You can view the “About” page by tapping on the “profile” and then on the “menu” icon, and finally on “About this Account.”
These changes are part of efforts to reassure followers that the account they’re following is genuine, and follows similar moves made recently by its parent company, Facebook.
